We had no plans to get another cat, but we saw him at Petco - climbing on top of his foster family kitty friends, making biscuits on their heads! - and next thing you know, we're filling out the adoption forms. He was born to a feral mother 'owned' by some guy that doesn't spay or nueter and leaves it to others to manage for him. (!@#!!*) When the kitties would come up onto his patio, he would go out with a hose and blast them off. (!@#*!)
Despite this early start, Linx is sooo sweet, playful and loving. He reminds me of Brulee with so many things he does, but different in his own way... he is a wonderful little stinker, I am certain there are going to be many pictures and posts about him and his adventures!!
While we were at Petco a couple was reunited with their female pit - after a year!! One look at the macho guy crying at the site of his dog and I, of course, cried as well.
The day before I cried also... happy tears again. One of my most difficult, heart wrenching founder horse clients has finally turned the corner. She was a complicated case and there were a few times where I just had no idea what to do for her. On Friday she walked up to me in her paddock when I got there, and pressed her head against me. This seems like a sweet gesture in itself, but you have to understand that I had never seen this horse walk before. She had always done this sad, slow, "spider walk" where she crouched down and moved in an agonizing semblance of a walk gait to get whereever she needed to go. Founder is excrutiatingly painful... it is what did the racehorse Barbaro in...and despite wearing "therapy boots" and all the pain management drugs she was on, she was in constant pain. But - Friday she was walking, free of pain, eyes bright, ears up. She has a long ways to go to be considered sound again, but man, what an amazing thing that was to see. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh man, now I'm all teary-eyed, too, about all of your stories today. Linx is a cutie! And so glad to hear about the horse. Poor thing!!
Wow..i must say what you do sound like the rewards are much more satisfying than the job itself..i love your new kitty sooo cute..
awesome news! love all the life you are rescuing! the horse was obviously thanking you? right? what an amazing moment. What did the owner do? keep me posted on the progress.
I felt like the horse was communicating something to me, it was a moment that I will never forget... It's the 2nd founder related communicating type experience I've had - the other horse was a sad feeling, unfortunately - like she was expressing deep pain. So I cried in empathy for her, but she's feeling so good these days she is trotting around and ripping her boots. ha! Both times the owner was not there, which is really unusual actually, because most of my clients are there every trim. Interesting... thanks you guys!
WOW!! I had no idea you got another kitty. I can't wait for life to calm down so I can keep up with everyone's blog's including my own. I am getting my new kitten this weekend I hope :)
