Wellies!

So around Christmas I decided I wanted some good rubber boots to wear to the barn for "mucking" - which translates to anything involving mud and horses, and often includes poo. (either cleaning it or walking in it in some form). I went on line and found a pair of "Wellies" - slang for Wellingtons, a style of rubber boot popular for decades among the horse crowd and pretty much anyone living in England. I just looooved these Wellies -- they were pink and purple with sweet pea flowers and butterflies on them! What is not to love?? Certainly Mario would want me to order them for myself so that I could give them to him to give to me for the holidays? Imagine my dismay when I learned they were only available in England and the nearby islands of Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and some other small offshore islands. Absolutely no shipping to the US.

In a fit of desire for these particular boots, I racked my brain and realized that I had a crazy friend in Scotland... a fellow trimmer that I had never met in person (although I will, in March). Might she be crazy enough to order the boots for me and then ship them to the US? As luck would have it, YES she is that crazy. The boots were waylayed due to an incredible amount of snow in Scotland, and Dawn was housebound with her - get this - Cairn Terrier dog. Anyone that knows me from growing up remembers Pupper, my faithful companion Cairn Terrier. AND, although Dawn's dog's name is Jed -- she calls him "Pupper-dog" when he is being cute or funny or endearing in some way. WHAT are the chances? Yes, it's fate at work for certain.

Today I came home from a hard day's work in a string of several very hard days work -- trimming, grooming, feeding, grocery shopping -- to find not only my wonderfully perfect Wellies at my doorstep... but Dawn had also included a beautiful calendar of Scottish history, and an adorable little card with a quirky horse and 3 sheep on the front. I feel triply blessed today. :-D
