The Ridge

Today's trail ride was awesome! It was about 2 1/2 hours, we went out with 4 others - 3 clients and one of their friends, everyone from Aliso Ranch. Mario rode Uncle Buck! :)

We did a trail called The Ridge, which winds upward along ridges that give amazing views! The view picture in no way did the beauty of it justice! The colors were so clear in person - bright green grass and two different shades of blue for the ocean and the sky! That side of the ridge looked out over the entire Santa Clara River Valley, out to Pt. Mugue, and to the right was a gorgeous view of the valley... thousands of acres with not a single sign of civilization. Beautiful!!

We did come upon a handful of cows. Jordan got very high headed and worried, but the group of seasoned cow horses just gathered near him, and Buck escorted him right past. It was like he came alongside him and said, "Follow me, relax..." It could not have worked out better! Great first experience there!

The group photo was taken by Jeff, so he is the only one missing. 5 of the 6 horses were barefoot and Jordan was in boots. :) He probably didn't need them, but I wanted him to have them just in case. He got a fanny workout going up some hills, and we crossed water twice. The water crossing was fun - he drank and played, so another good experience there!

The way back down is nice and gradual. Unfortunately coming out of the trees we caught a lot of wind in this area, but it was so pretty and the horses were calm and well behaved. Here's Mario and I amongst the yellow flowers. We had such a good time, can't wait to do it again!!
