I got back from Reno, Nevada at about 11pm last night... and trimmed 9 horses today... no rest for the weary?
Reno was awesome though. I was there for a PHCP meeting and then a radiograph reading clinic with a vet/trimmer. On Friday the charter members of PHCP attended a much-needed meeting and we hammered out some difficult issues and I think made great progress. We now have a board of directors, which we had (purposely) avoided having in the past. But, I think we're ready for it now. We also came up with some fun ideas for our annual meeting which will be held in Vegas this fall, so that should be fun. We are even thinking of Maui for our 2010 meeting, because one of our practitioners is there and ... well, it's Maui! :-)

Saturday was the lecture/indoor portion of the clinic where the vet patiently taught us the ins and outs of reading hoof / lower leg radiographs. On Sunday we went to her clients barns and radiographed actual hooves, which was so interesting. I got to operate the machine and take actual rads. As you can see from the picture, Reno was snowy and fuh-reezing. It was 24 degrees when that pic was taken. Way too cold for a wussy so-cal gal. It was worth it though - I love my friends at PHCP and got to meet a bunch of the new members which was so cool, and I learned so much.
But now my brain is a little mushy and it's time to go chill...

No, I flew to Reno. Driving would have added too much time off to the trip. :-p
