What a day!

Chloe kitty

I had a great day today!

It started last night with insane gusting winds outside the window waking me up with banging and clanging of windchimes. The dreaded Santa Ana east winds... ugh! No wonder why my nose was stuffy for the last 3 days. I swear my body knows when the winds are coming. We had leaves and palm fronds all over the yard, a fence post blew down and the poor blow up pumpkins on the roof were being battered all over the place. Mario did some fixing up braving the 50mph gusting winds and I hunkered down knowing full well there was no way we were trimming in that mess of a weather forecast! Blowing debris, crackling static and handling horse hooves just don't go together.

Ok so the weather part of the day wasn't great. But then I got a phone call from the embryologist with good news! She said that of the two embies they froze, one was an 8-cell, grade A! The other was a 5-cell, grade B. I was sooo excited!! I even ran outside to give Mario the news in the gale winds. ;)

I spent some time switching car insurance and getting my car registered, which is normally a dreadful activity but things went pretty smoothly and I saved some money over what I was anticipating. Mario got my car washed, and it was so nice having a CLEAN vehicle that didn't smell like horse feet!

Then I got the new Pete Ramey book in the mail. Pete is the reason I am a hoof trimmer at all ~ I've probably talked about him in my blog before... he's an amazing trimmer (and person) from Georgia. He put together an enormous color hardcover veterinary text with a whole bunch of awesome contributing authors - some of whom I have talked about here before also - Dr. Bowker, Dr. Ridgway, Dr. Taylor, Dr Kellon, Brian Hampson, Katy Watts, etc. So I am thumbing through this intense 450 page book and I come across MY PICTURES!! Whoa! So coooooool. I had sent a few photos to Pete a long time ago in response to his request for certain images, but I never heard anything about if they would be included or not. I figured not... until actually SEEING them, in print, today! They are before/after photos of some hooves I trim, with credit given of course. There are vets, shoers and trimmers internationally who will see this book and my pix! I can't believe it...

Finally, my new phone arrived today! I got it all set up, but will need to get it switched over to my other number tomorrow. It's another iPhone, but we switched carriers to Verizon. I should have better coverage now.

I think everyone deserves a great day like this every once in a while!! :)
