Overnight Guest

So last night I am hammering away at my computer working on a business plan for the new / changed Ventura Auto Magic. Mario ran out to get some more printer toner, and I keep hearing this little chirp. I had seen a cricket in the house last night, so I thought it was the cricket. The dogs are standing at the back doors looking outside with interest, and it's nearly fully dark... I realize it must be a bird, but the timing is so odd! I finally turn off the inside lights and try to look in the back yard and see what it is. I catch the image of a little bird strolling around on the patio. Weird! Now the dogs are really going crazy and I can't get any more work done. I shoosh them away, go outside and look for the little bird... no sign of him! Come back in, sit back down - the chirping starts again and now the pugs and Dylan are really fired up. Back up again, I get out the back door and this little parrot runs up to me - and climbs my leg, up my arm and snuggles happily onto my neck!!!
I stood there for about 10 minutes wondering what the hell just happened. Where did this bird come from??? I can't get back in the house because there are now 3 dogs and 5 cats *staring* at me through the French doors. Luckily Mario came back home right at that moment, and helped me get the little love bird into a safe room in the house.

We started calling him/her Mango because we have no idea if it's a boy or girl and Mango seems exotic. :) He's super friendly, all he wants is to be on your shoulder, where he will sit quietly and happily. The only thing we've found that upsets him is having the audacity to try to hand feed him anything?? He bit both Mario and I both for that indiscretion.

I just printed up flyers to put up around the neighborhood. He has to be someone's pet, but his wings are clipped and I still cannot fathom how he got into our yard unless he literally walked/climbed. He can only fly about 6 inches or so from what we've seen. Here's Bailey's face through the green room doors - you can see that Mango has garnered (too) much interest from all of the pets! Mario really likes this little bird, he would actually like to keep him - me too - but we are both terrified it will get eaten by another family member!!!

Here's a view that shows how pretty he is. :)
