Aliso had their annual summer BBQ yesterday, it was really fun. My goal for the evening was to sit in my chair-in-a-bag (complete with two cupholders) and relax. Goal accomplished! There was a bottle of chilled white in the left holder, and a Rancheros plastic cup in the right holder. Passing on the tri-tip, we had delicious bean salad, guacamole (that I made ;-)), thai salad, green salad and potato salad. We chatted with our friends and clients, watched the little kids run barrels on their (SAINT) horses, and basically just hung out for hours. Very nice night!
This morning we went on a ride with Jeff and Jill, Mario got to ride Bucky again but I didn't get any photos this time. There was a big Sheriff's Posse ride at the ranch ~ we purposely did not go on it, but we did pass by the posse as they were heading out. A mix of mostly cowboys and some cowgirls and friends of said cowboys and cowgirls. At about the 1/2 way point they are met by a beer wagon, and then when they get back to the ranch there's a BBQ. It's a fun event but Jordan was in no way up to the excitement of 30-50 horses of varied experience with 30-50 riders of varied intoxication. ;-) Probably some day we will ride with the posse just to say we've done it...
We did a nice 2 hour ride and Jordan did fantastic once he got over his excitement of seeing all those horses heading out... yeehah! He's doing awesome with the cows, he's fascinated by them and still somewhat leery, but he doesn't spook and today we rode right through the middle of several different herds (they were laying across our trail!) and he was leading the way.
Faith did a fine job of not getting excited at all when we took Jordan out. She calmly hung out eating her hay in the shade by her water tank, and then greeted him with a happy neigh when he came back. Perfect. One of my friends/clients at the ranch gave us 3 new koi fish in our tank. :)
Mario left to go play a little golf and I had a Corona with lime. Two of 'em. Now I am sleepy, but I think I am going to take the dogs for a walk. I want to enjoy this day off as much as humanly possible!

I want to go on a trail ride one day. How long would it take to get me ready for that?
Sounds like an awesome bbq, and barn to be a part of!
