another little update

I had bloodwork done for the mtx shot, and it all came back so *normal*! Whohoo! The last time I had CBCs, electrolyte, liver values, etc. tested, I was still all wonky from being sick over the summer. My hemoglobin was even 13, the highest I have seen it... meaning I am actually not anemic. Hey, I am happy for small victories! :)

They ran another HCG (beta) while I was there, and 2 days after my previous b/w, it was already up 400 points! What the eff. I spoke with the doctor who did my surgery to remove my tubes, and he said "yeah, that's some tenacious tissue". He agreed with Dr. S's thoughts that an ectopic at this point would be extremely rare, and that I should do the mtx. I got that shot this morning. Actually, it was 2 shots - 50ml in each cheek. I was amazed how much it didn't hurt! After those thick progesterone shots this was easy. Now I just go back in a week for - what else - a beta, to make sure the damn numbers get to dropping. The nurse was informing me of some of the less common side effects of the mtx, but then realized who she was dealing with and said "well, you are the odds maker, so...." :-/ All I gotta say is this sh!t better work!

Mario and I went to San Diego again on Sunday to meet up with my new client. The drive was much easier with no traffic except one small spot on the way home - we got down there in about 3 hrs and back in about 3 1/2. All in all it really wasn't bad. The horses are progressing well and the client is just so nice. She hugged us both in greeting and good-bye, and sent me an email when I got home thanking us again for coming and saying how she appreciates us. She showed the younger horse this past weekend and said he did well.

We also got a phone call while there from a client whose old Arabian is doing so well she wanted to let us know he was at that moment galloping around and showing off a floaty trot. Ahh, makes it all worth it! Mario is applying to AHA this year and we're working on his case studies. Holy crap, it's so time intensive!! I can't believe I went through it all ~ sure glad to have it behind me and be helping him rather than doing it myself again. We did 3 of his study horses today, and the photos alone take up so much time... If we can get everything done without a hitch, we might be able to submit him for approval by around June.

It's almost 9pm, and even after the time change I am still thinking it is bed time now. I feel like I am going to bed earlier and waking up earlier lately. Is it a sign that soon I will become a true 'morning person'??? Nahhh.
